Young leaders from various parts of the country had their capacities strengthened in meaningful youth participation, Local Government Act, and Access to Information Act through a training organized by Youth Initiative for Community Development (YICOD) in collaboration with Phalombe Youth Arms Organisation and All for Youth at Thope Lodge in Dowa.
Youth Initiative for Community Development (YICOD) Executive Director, Andrew Bwanali, has expressed his satisfaction with the pass-on programme for livestock currently being implemented in the area of Traditional Authority Kachere in Dedza district.
He made this expression after a successful pass-on event in which primary beneficiaries of livestock passed on 91 chickens to 25 other identified beneficiaries in their communities.
Youth Initiative for Community Development (YICOD) together with its partners convened a National-Youth led dialogue to demand Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) as well as Youth-Friendly Health Services (YFHS) in Malawi.
The dialogue provided a platform for young people to present their challenges and recommendations on YFHS/SRHR programming, follow up on the implementation of key recommendations agreed upon at previous National Youth Conferences on youth- targeted HIV and AIDS and SRHR also amplified their voices and drove substantial change towards better SRH/YHS financing and accountability in Malawi.
In a bid to enhance the nutritional status of women and promote food security alongside WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) practices, YICOD has initiated a ground-breaking initiative aiming to integrate financial inclusion with nutrition-sensitive practices among vulnerable communities.
In the area of Traditional Authority Kachere, settled within the villages of Kachere and Fosa, a noteworthy transformation has taken root, reshaping the lives of communities once plagued by health challenges and nutritional deficiencies.
