WHO WE ARE

YOUTH INITIATIVE FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (YICOD)

We are a dynamic and impactful youth-led Non-Governmental Organization headquartered in Malawi, dedicated to creating positive change to children, adolescent girls and young women, young people and women through community-driven initiatives. YICOD (Youth Initiative for Community Development) is registered with a host of esteemed regulatory bodies including the National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM), Council for Non-Governmental Organizations in Malawi (CONGOMA), NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA), Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), and the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs under the Trustees Incorporation Act (CAP. 5:03).

YICOD was born from a deep desire to empower marginalized communities in Malawi. Our journey began with a small group of passionate young people committed to creating meaningful change. Over the years, this seed of dedication has grown into a vibrant organization that leverages partnerships, innovation, and community-led solutions to address pressing challenges.

We are focused on achieving an enhanced socio-economic well-being for women, children, young people, and other vulnerable groups through the implementation of comprehensive programs and projects. Our areas of focus include health, education, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), child protection, food nutrition and security, governance, gender equality, and climate change adaptation.
